Cutting Circles on Your Bandsaw...Safely

In my last post I mentioned the newest tool the Stockroom Supply line - The Round Ripper.  As with all of our unique, innovative tools The Round Ripper came about when Paul saw a need in the industry.  He found himself watching videos featuring professional woodworkers and realized that every time they would cut a circle on a bandsaw that their hands were placed in an entirely dangerous situation.  Compelled by these videos and the need to always be redefining the woodworking industry, Paul began tinkering in the shop, ultimately coming up with this game changing tool.

The Round Ripper holds the wood in a perfectly safe and secure position while keeping the users hands far away from the dangers of the bandsaw blade.  The unique 2-point holder (much like holding wood between two centers on a lathe) keeps the blade from getting bound, protecting the blade from heating up and damaging it's set.

As you can imagine The Round Ripper has found a place in the hearts of many turners who use it to make turning blanks, lazy susans, trophy bases & so much more!  Paul's popular seminar "Turning a Bowl with Your Bandsaw" uses "ditchwood" to create a bowl with the help of a Round Ripper.
Several prominent woodworking magazines, including Woodturning Design and Canadian Woodworking have featured The Round Ripper as an up and coming new product.  This is certainly a product to keep on your radar - and a must-have for any woodturner!

The Round Ripper has a cousin tool, The Little Ripper, also designed for use on a bandsaw and which can share the same sliding track base.  The Round Ripper can be purchased alone or in conjunction with The Little Ripper.  You can see the Round Ripper in person at wood shows across North America.  Click HERE for plans.

We're Back, and Ready to Blog!

It's been a while since our last post so we decided it was high time we got back at it.  Not much has changed - we're still the same family owned & operated, making waves in the woodworking industry business that you remember, with a few additions.  As you know we're always trying to come up with new, innovative ways to help woodworkers in their shop.  We've introduced a new tool or two and we've improved upon tools that were already in our lineup.  We were completely ill prepared for how quickly our new Round Ripper (pictured below) and Little Ripper Sawmill Kit would take off, which is probably the main reason for our lack of blogging.   Also, I've been sworn to complete secrecy BUT I am allowed to say we have a couple new products in the works too!!

Check out The Round Ripper & Little Ripper at http://stockroomsupply.ca/shop/thelittleripper.html

Another change/addition has been Paul's alter ego, "Crazy Canadian Woodworker".  CCW, as we fondly refer to him, has become a real little celebrity, with his Youtube video's getting more than 2.5 million hits.  CCW can be seen at seminars around Canada & the USA sharing his "knowledge" with anyone who wants to listen.  He's fun to watch, but his stunts tend to be a bit on the dangerous side, so please NEVER do anything you see him doing!  I don't even think Paul knows what he'll do next!

We want the re-launch of this blog to be somewhat interactive - we want to write about what you want to know about, so PLEASE don't hesitate to make requests.   We'll try to post pics, possibly even videos to get as much information out there as possible.  We also want to feature YOUR work, so send us pictures of any projects you make using our products and if you have a blog send us the link.  We want to feature YOUR pictures and possibly even your thoughts as a guest blogger someday.  If you haven't already, make sure to "Like" us on Facebook, www.facebook.com/StockroomSupply!  It's a great place to stay connected on the latest news, deals, and Woodshow information.  You can also sign up for e-mail updates at www.stockroomsupply.ca/shop - just scroll to the bottom of the page and add your e-mail address.  Looking forward to being back in the blogging world!
